SERVING   4:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Fish Fry Setup: Thursday, November 15th, 6:00 p.m.

We had a very good turnout at our October fish and chicken dinner, serving 261 customers.  We have added a new fish to our menu, Basa Fish, a very light tasting cat fish that originates from Asia. It is lightly breaded, deep fried and excellent with some squeezed lemon or tartar sauce.  Come and try it if you haven’t been to one of our dinners in a while.  Bring your family and friends. Of course, we have all the fixings to go with it. It’s the best fish fry in Kane County!

Our Legion Hall roof is leaking.  We’ve had a few roofing companies come in and give us estimates for repairs.  Unfortunately, is not going to be a simple fix.  The entire flat portion of the roof needs to be replaced.  We are planning to have a slight pitch added so that there is no longer any standing water on the roof. It needs to be done before the snow comes.  This will be an expensive repair for us. We will need every Legion member’s support to help us raise funds in order to keep our post in good financial health.  If you are thinking of a deductible donation this year, please keep your Legion Post in mind.

100 CLUB

Our 100 Club Tickets are now for sale!  As you know, this is one of our biggest fund raisers.  We sell 300 tickets for $10 each and at every fish fry we draw one ticket from the drum. The winner receives $100!  Their ticket is then put back into the drum and they are eligible to win over and over again. To receive your tickets, see any Legion Officer or, better yet, come to a Fish Fry. You may also mail your request and check to Don Grillo 41W320 Empire Rd. St. Charles, IL. 60175. You are also welcome to email Don at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or just call him at 630-584-5883 and he will be sure to get some tickets to you.

Did you know that Illinois has four Veterans homes? Run by the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA), all four homes are fully staffed with caring and dedicated professionals who provide quality long-term skilled care and services to resident members. Volunteers from veteran service organizations and the local community provide many additional supporting services and activities to the veterans.

Each of the homes is licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health and certified by the US Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center of jurisdiction.  The homes work closely with the local healthcare community to ensure that each resident’s specific health care needs are met.  Emphasis is given to ensuring that each resident member is well cared for, has a full quality of life, and enjoys a caring, supportive environment.

Cost of Care

Members (residents) pay a monthly maintenance fee which covers room, food (including special diets and supplements), medication, all levels of medical care, recreation and activities, and any special therapy or treatment prescribed by the attending physician.  No veteran will be turned away because of ability to pay. This fee is assessed based on an individual's income (not assets) and is currently capped at $929 per month.  Effective July 1, 2012, the maximum fee will increase to $1079 per month for members admitted prior to July 1, 2012 and to $1429 for members admitted after July 1, 2012.

Staff members at each Home are available to answer admission-related questions and to advise veterans and families in making the best choice possible. For more information, contact: The Adjutant Illinois Veterans Home, 1015 O'Conor Avenue, LaSalle, Illinois 61301 Phone; (815) 223-0303, ext. 210

One of the American Legions priorities is to recruit new membership.  It would be wonderful if all veterans knew about our great organization and the services and programs the Legion provides to help vets and the local community.  Unfortunately, many do not or they choose not to participate.  As Legion members, it is our responsibility to seek out veterans and inform them about our organization and encourage them to join.  I am asking each and every one of our members to find at least one veteran that is not a Legion member and ask him to join.  Our Post is aging and we need new younger active members or we face the possibility of losing our Post. Our doors are always open. Encourage a vet to join us today.
